Did President Trump really imply divine intervention in the weather?

Saturday was Sean Spicer’s first White House briefing as President Trump’s spokesman, and he used it to call out the media for lowballing the crowd estimates for his boss’s inauguration.

“This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period,” he proclaimed.
This caused immediate journalistic spasms. Some called him a liar. But I’m not going to call him a liar. Because when the president stands up at CIA headquarters and says this:
“Honestly, it looked like a million-and-a-half people,” Trump said.
And when he even implies divine intervention in the weather.
“It was almost raining,” Trump said. “But God looked down and said we’re not going to let it rain on your speech.”
When the boss is saying that, what do you expect the press secretary to say?
So to prevent this from further dividing the nation. I would like you all to please take a moment to clear your minds, inhale, exhale, just think of this as one of the voices in your head and repeat after me:
“The inauguration of Donald Trump (The inauguration of Donald Trump) was watched by more people (watched by more people) than any other inauguration (than any other inauguration) ever (ever). When Mr. Trump said God stopped the rain (When Mr. Trump said God stopped the rain) he was just joking (just joking). And he never called the press ‘disgusting’ (And he never called the press disgusting). He simply said he wanted to ‘discuss things.’
No, I made that up.
