Free market to the rescue

Dave Ross Commentary – Listen: Free market to the rescue
It’s clear by now that the stimulus wasn’t enough, and the housing incentives didn’t work, which means that what we’re left with now… is what many politicians have been hoping for … the free market. That’s what will have to rescue us from the double dip.
So far, the latest figures on job creation show that the free market, is exercising its freedom to do nothing.
And as for the retail sales figures out today:
“Definitely a soft patch unfolding here, hopefully that’s what it is, a soft patch before we see growth pick up again,” said one report.
The free market isn’t quite ready to fix that either.
But as economists will tell you corporate treasuries have a record amount of cash on hand, all that money has to go somewhere, so it’s only a matter of time before the free market works its magic and puts that money in the pockets of American workers.
We just don’t HOW MUCH time.
What we do know is there is one place where the job market IS pretty healthy — so healthy in fact it’s the only city in America where housing prices have actually gone up.
“The only city where home prices increase on a monthly, and annual basis was Washington D.C.” said a news report.
Washington DC. And I hear it’s a government town. That’s a kick in the pants! The one place where housing has stabilized is the one place where most jobs are flat-out created by government!
But –don’t worry, that government is finally under the control of a new crop of politicians who believe in the free market.
Who can now sit there in their prosperous little enclave — watching the rest of us carry out their little experiment. Trying to find where they hid the cheese.
