antitrust, google...

We’re still waiting to see what President Trump plans to do about Google, after complaining that when he Googles his own name, he sees way too many left-leaning websites.

RELATED: Where is fairness in Trump news?

But it occurs to me that maybe there’s a simple solution.

Based on everything we’ve been told about how Google search works, there is no one search result. The results you get are based on your preferences. As dictated by your search history. The stuff you click on.

In fact, that’s what creeps people out the most about Google – the immense amount of data it collects on you. But it collects all that data – why? For the purpose of displaying search results tailed to your preferences. That’s why pundits are always warning us about online echo chambers, especially on social media – where people only see news that backs up their world view.

But that would mean the real problem is the president’s surfing habits. Because if his screen is filling up with negative news from Liberal websites, that would mean that those are the sites he’s been clicking on. He must be clicking on them a lot. Which is why Google is going to keep moving those sites to the top of the list.

So I have a solution. It should work not just for the president, but for anyone who thinks their search results are getting too Liberal.

The more I read the post-election analysis, the more I’m convinced voters weren’t just voting for a change – they were voting for a hormone.
