How about a debate between America’s CEOs?

Listen to Dave’s commentary: How about a debate between America’s CEOs?
Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, says America is better than our fractured politics.
“We have serious problems and we need serious people to fix them.”
He’s fed up with members of Congress who won’t compromise; politicians willing to put America in default to score points — so he’s gotten 100 fellow CEOs to pledge to stop giving money to politicians UNTIL THEY LEARN TO WORK TOGETHER.
Last night, he held an online Town Hall to push the idea that we have to get past the liberal vs. conservative gang-banging.
“I just cannot sit here any longer and say ‘We are going to embrace this status quo.’ We are better than this. We are Americans. I’m optimistic about the country and our people and we need to send a powerful mesage to Washington once and for all that we are not going to accept this kind of fractured leadership.”
Howard Schultz thinks he can send that message by cutting off donations until politicians start getting serious about making the government work again.
But you see, while he bravely sits on his wallet, other CEOs, like Tea Party supporters Charles and David Koch, will continue to raise millions for politicians who pledge NOT to compromise. Because they believe the more disillusioned people are with their government, the better it’ll be for business. They WANT fractured government. And those guys ARE serious Howard.
If you want to change things, you need to get THEM on your show. CEO vs CEO. Never mind the politicians debating — imagine a debate between the people who ACTUALLY pay for the campaign ads.
I’d be happy to moderate. I’d PAY to moderate.
