Dave Ross Commentary – Listen: If disappointed Harold Camping followers are searching for someone new to follow…try Dave Ross

There was a volcano in Iceland, a small earthquake near San Francisco, and that terrible tornado in Missouri.

But the Rapture did not come.

We seldom get a clean up-or-down vote on who’s right and who’s wrong when it comes to God.

But this time, it was clear. Preacher Harold Camping gave a definite date for his prediction of the Rapture, and stuck to it to the end — or I should say, NOT the end — so that today we can say with absolute certainly that Harold Camping was wrong about God and wrong about the Bible.

And we can also say with absolute certainty who was right. That would be the guy who came on the air last week and stated unequivocally “Jesus is not coming Saturday night.”

And that person would be…me.

In fact, since I didn’t believe Camping’s 1994 prediction either, that puts me at 2-0.

So if any disappointed Harold Camping followers are searching for someone new to follow, someone who actually gets it RIGHT, might I suggest…me.

Although it won’t be easy, because I have some notions about God even more radical than Mr. Camping. If you follow me, the first thing I will do is tell you, in a loving way, that anyone who trusts any preacher who says he “knows what God is about to do” — is an idiot. And that any person who gives that preacher money, is going to be an idiot with no money.

My latest prophecy, by the way, is that the world will also not end in 2012. Sorry Mayans.

If fact, I predict the world will not end … even if Congress is stupid enough to default on the federal debt. Although — in that case, we’ll wish it had.
