Is Donald Trump really open to advice?

CBS’s Major Garrett talked to Republicans on Capitol Hill to see what it would take to unify the Republican party behind Donald Trump. It didn’t sound promising.
“A lot of people can say what I heard a lot of today, ‘I support the Republican nominee,’ as if he has no name.”

But he DID find some Trump supporters, and they have come up with a plan:
“They’re going to council Donald Trump to simplify the Trump message to three bullet points and three bullet points only.”
And here they are:
-Hit ISIS hard, win, and get out
-Stay tough on illegal immigration
-Bring jobs back.
That’s it. No more riffing on the minimum wage, NATO, or how great Vladimir Putin is.
It sounds like the Republican Party is about to attempt something unprecedented in American politics – the domestication of Donald Trump. Or at least the attempted domestication of Donald Trump.
It’s like asking the Rolling Stones not to play too loud.
But this is apparently the advice Speaker Paul Ryan will give him at their meeting tomorrow, and on FOX, it sounded like Trump might be open to it.
“Number one I have a lot of respect for Paul and I think we’re going to have a very good meeting, I hope,” Trump said. “And I think the big thing is, in the history of the Republican Party nobody has ever gotten more votes than I’ve gotten in the primaries.”
He’s open to advice but also apparently thinking to himself, “You know, considering the unbelievable number of votes I’ve received, who should be giving that advice?”
