It never crossed his mind

Last week, ESPN last week ran a long article alleging that the Baltimore Ravens knew there was clear video evidence of the sucker punch running back Ray Rice threw at his then-girlfriend – but deliberately covered it up.

The charge so offended Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti that he held an unscripted 47 minute news conference to explain why he didn’t demand to see the video sooner.

“There is no excuse for me not to have demanded that video except that I was concerned, or interested enough to demand it. It never cross my mind,” said Bisciotti.

Never crossed his mind.

I can hear people saying, “Never crossed his mind? Are you bleeping kidding me?”

But listen to him, “I’m not that honorable enough, I guess. I was not prepared to take the worst case punishment against somebody that I have incredibly loving feelings for.”

Some sportswriters are calling him a liar, but here he is admitting to the more damning truth – that he was genuinely oblivious.

Billionaires don’t buy football teams because they want to deal with complex social issues! They buy them for the excitement of being the commander in chief of an army on a metaphorical, artificial battlefield where toughness is what counts.

A world that, ironically, was largely created by the worshipful reporting of some of the same media that are now picking it apart.
