Since the beginning, Dave Ross has followed Bertha bore a tunnel under Seattle to make way for the Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement.

And he chronicled it all in a feature he aptly named, “As the Earth Churns.” Thankfully, the years-long series is coming to a close as Bertha finally emerges from the bowels of Seattle.
