Listen Dave Ross Commentary: Pity the billionaire
Thomas Frank, once the only liberal columnist at the Wall Street Journal, author of What’s The Matter with Kansas, and now Pity the Billionaire — thought the Great Recession would turn America against the excesses of Conservatism:
“Every pundit in Washington said this is the end of the road for the great free market experiment, and the conservative mood was able to say, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.”
Instead, the Tea Party convinced many Americans to double down on conservatism… and Mr.Obama …
“I just feel like he dropped the ball and still can’t get back on track and can’t see the obvious things he needs to do to fight back,” said Frank.
See Tom is upset because he thinks the middle class is at stake. To which I’ve argued, if the middle class thinks a conservative hands-off approach will bring the jobs back — why not let ’em try it?
“Dave Ross you’re part of the problem.”
And suppose, I asked him, suppose we DO get a moderate like Mitt Romney — is that so bad?
Frank: Oh man, we always say Romney he’s so moderate, he’s not a real conservative Republican.
Ross: Make a prediction, economy better or worse?
Frank: It’ll be better for people who earn their money the way Romney earns.
Ross: Middle class?
Frank: Oh come on, that will tank of course.
Thomas Frank’s new book is called “Pity the Billionaire.” I believe the title is meant to be sarcastic.
