Listen to Dave’s commentary: Put it on my phone
Once upon a time, the purpose of the American economic system was to create and spread wealth, and do it better than anybody else. Today of course, our economic system has one purpose: to scare you into buying gold.
In case you haven’t been following the stock market today, here’s a quick summary:
Listen to Chumbawamba’s I Get Knocked Down
Who needs this? Could there possibly be a better way top spread the wealth?
Well, there’s this phenomenon called “Jonathan’s Card.”
A guy named Jonathan Stark posted a screen shot of his Starbucks card so you can display it on any Smartphone and use it to buy coffee, or, if you’re feeling generous, load money on to it.
All the transactions are publicly posted, and thousands of dollars have passed through that card.
Is this just another viral marketing campaign? Who knows, but who cares?
Suppose that the job creators, you know, those rich people who we are told are sitting on trillions in cash, wondering when the consumer market will bounce back — put, maybe, a few billion on an online card so that cash strapped consumers actually had something to spend?
Instant stimulus, and the government doesn’t have to do a dang thing.
Not need to wait for the stock market to recover, or some federal abracadabra…
Spread the wealth on Smartphones — does it sound stupid? Stupider than this?
