Ross: A Republican jumps in to challenge President Trump

A Republican is planning to challenge President Donald Trump for the presidential nomination. He’s Bill Weld, former governor of Massachusetts.

Over the weekend he gave a carefully-prepared speech to a New Hampshire audience – a speech full of traditional Republican ideas – like promising to control the debt, cut the capital gains and estate taxes, pass a flat tax, support charter schools, and head off the flirtation with socialism coming from the Democrats.
“Unfortunately, especially in the left wing of the Democratic Party, socialism has replaced any notion of spending restraint,” he said.
But he knows that he would first have to break the spell in the Republican Party. He says he finds it sad that Republicans in Washington “exhibit all the symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome, identifying with their captor.”
But I dunno. Do Republicans really want a no-drama candidate? I mean, once you’ve seen Lady Ga Ga, can you go back to Streisand?
I would think if they were truly ready to replace Trump, if anything they’d replace him with someone Trumpier. And the only person in America Trumpier than Trump would be someone like … Ted Nugent.
Although he could probably build an impenetrable border wall of sound, without having to take a penny from the Pentagon.
