Ross: Donald Trump is giving us a free master class from Trump University

Over the weekend, various reporters asked Donald Trump if he’s a racist for saying he doesn’t trust Judge Gonzalo Curiel.

Curiel is the federal judge who last week released the documents in the Trump University lawsuit. Trump has been saying Judge Curiel, who was born in Indiana but has Mexican parents, has it in for him because of his promise to make Mexico build a wall.

CNN’s Jake Tapper was determined to hold Trump accountable for what he’s said about the judge.

“If you are saying he can’t do his job because of his race is that not the definition of racism?” Tapper asked Trump.

“No, I don’t think so at all,” Trump replied.

Trump didn’t back down, and in fact, he went on Face the Nation and said he probably wouldn’t trust a Muslim judge either because he’s also talked about not letting Muslims in.

The way Trump sees it, he’s not being racist, just stating the obvious. Why would Muslims or people who are “kind of Mexican” be fair to a guy who’s trying to keep Muslims and Mexicans out of the country?

In fact, there’s a theory that says that he’s deliberately trying to provoke Judge Curiel into becoming so enraged he’ll have no choice but to take himself off the case.

Which is a pretty cool trick if it works because it could be used over and over again. The next judge might be a bald guy. So Trump could say the “bald guy hates me because my hair is so much better,” until that judge also has to recuse himself and Trump could put off the lawsuit forever.

You know what — I think we’re all getting a free master class from Trump U.
