Donald Trump held an event Thursday with the Mayor and city manager of Laredo, Texas.

And when he invites the Mayor to the podium, the mayor, Pete Saenz, said, “Laredo is known for, obviously, transportation &#8212 you can see the big trucks behind us &#8212 and NAFTA has been very good to us. We’re excited about that.”

He endorses the very trade treaty with Mexico that Trump has said is killing America. In fact, Trump has said NAFTA is a “total disaster.”

Then Mr. Trump calls the city manager up and he takes a question about building a wall on the border.

“Well, we don’t think that’s necessary at this time. I think there are other ways we can work together with the federal government,” the City Manager Jesus Olivares said.

The city manager said we don’t need a wall. Even as he stood right next to a man, Trump, who has said, “And I would build a wall like nobody can build a wall.”

I cannot remember the last time a candidate who actually called to the podium not one, but two, speakers who completely disagreed with him on a fundamental issue. But not only that, even he was talking as if Mexico wasn’t so bad.

“A lot of what is happening here is because of the fact that Mexico is doing so well,” Trump said in Laredo. “It’s just doing beyond what anybody ever thought, and I don’t know if that is good for the United States, but that’s good for Mexico. Anybody have any questions?”

Well yeah, I have a question: What have you done with Donald Trump?
