Thanks to the election, an undercurrent of bitterness remains

Election Day is here and we’re all hoping that by tomorrow we know the answer to the big question: Is there a hidden vote the pollsters missed?
CBS’s Steve Futterman says there is an underlying concern within Hillary Clinton’s campaign that they underestimated the strength of Donald Trump. There could be hidden voters that haven’t shown up in the polls who plan to vote for Trump.
But despite the lead being narrow, the Clinton campaign is feeling confident. CBS’s Nancy Cordes reports Clinton plans to keep a low profile until her election watch party in mid-town Manhattan.

The candidates squeezed every hour out of their schedule on Monday. Trump was hitting the same points at a string of big rallies: the Wall, “Crooked Hillary,” the dishonest press that never turns the cameras around — except as he said it they when he announced a major endorsement.
“Tom Brady, great guy, great friend of mine, great, great champion, unbelievable winner,” Trump said at the rally on Monday. “He called today and he said, ‘Donald, I support you, you’re my friend, and I voted for you.'”
Whether that is true is up for debate, as Brady’s wife has reportedly said the two do not support Trump.
According to Trump, Bill Belichick, Brady’s coach, also voted for Trump.
Hillary hosted some huge rallies of her own Monday — the biggest at Independence Hall in Philadelphia where she had help from Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Bill, Chelsea, and Barack and Michelle Obama.
And then — apparently feeling an overabundance of stamina, she wrapped up with a midnight rally at N.C. State. It was a rally in Raleigh — talking about the minimum wage, free college, and Trump’s unfitness.
But along with all the celebration — the undercurrent of bitterness remains in this election. The divisions are so deep that they erupted on CSPAN last night to the point that host Steve Scully, who is TVs Clark Kent — probably the most mild-mannered host in the nation’s history — had to defend himself.
The final Investors Business Daily tracking poll has Trump winning the popular vote in a four-way race by 2 percent.
But the RCP average of four-way polls has Clinton up by 3.3 percent.
