Spokane’s downtown zip line project, first suggested in 2018, is close to moving forward and could open by late July if it clears a few remaining approvals.

Jake Skorheim and Spike O’Neill, co-hosts of “The Jake and Spike Show” on KIRO Newsradio, believe the tourist attraction could bring valuable foot traffic to the city.

“It’s a great public promotional tool for the City of Spokane,” Spike said. “It is a fantastic idea.”

Mica Moon Zip Tours, the company behind the proposal, plans to install the attraction over the Spokane River and offer free rides to underserved youth and nonprofits, although no city funding will be used.

Final decisions from the Spokane Park Board and City Council are expected in mid-June, and construction could start soon after.
