Sound Transit, currently under investigation for allegedly misleading lawmakers, announced this week that their board approved the West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions project.

It got me wondering: is former Mayor Ed Murray still serving on the board, despite having been forced out of office after a series of serious allegations of sexual abusing minors?

The Sound Transit website still includes Murray as serving on the board. He was listed on the official minutes of their meeting from August.

But, no need to worry: he’s no longer on the board.

According to Kimberly M. Reason, Senior Public Information Officer for Sound Transit, Murray has been replaced by newly-installed Seattle Mayor Tim Burgess. Reason explains that they’re in the process of updating the website. And while they’ve been slow to update their website, they quickly update the stationary of their meeting letterhead.

But was scandal-ridden Murray removed or was he allowed to step down? He was removed. Sort of.

When Murray stepped down as mayor, he was no longer eligible to serve on the Sound Transit board, since it’s composed of only local elected officials, so he wasn’t permitted to continue serving on the board.
