‘Practice on the pimps’: Jake, Spike urge Seattle to use World Cup drones for Aurora crime cleanup

Jun 9, 2026, 3:02 PM

The City of Seattle has spent roughly $9 million on three drones to be flown around the Stadium District for security during the FIFA World Cup.

While the first game of the World Cup in Seattle is a short time away, KIRO hosts Jake Skorheim and Spike O’Neill advised the city should use some of that spare time and equipment to crack down on the violent pimps along Aurora Avenue as “practice.”

“Amazing that this many resources, technology, cooperation, and collaboration are available for an event like the World Cup. I get it, it’s the largest sporting event in the world,” Spike said on “The Jake and Spike Show” on KIRO Newsradio.

“But they can’t put a damper on the pimps?” Jake responded.

Could Seattle’s security drones curb shooting, trafficking trends on Aurora?

Jake and Spike devised a plan for Seattle to be resourceful and use the advanced security equipment to crack down on the crime seen in Aurora, an area where residents have continuously complained about ongoing gun violence and prostitution.

“You can’t drop a police substation right there at 92nd and Aurora,” Spike said. “Seriously, what are they doing with this stuff after the World Cup? We’re getting tons of resources for the next five weeks.”

“Send a drone up, they’ve got cool drones. Go watch the pimps,” Jake responded. “See if you can get a little time. There are six games in like five weeks. These games are spread out. There’s got to be some time. What are the drones doing on the other days? Go find some pimps. Practice on the pimps.”

“Yeah, stay sharp,” Spike said.
