‘I got really, really mad’: Jake celebrates as Costco brings back fan-favorite food court item

Costco has officially confirmed it’s bringing back churros to its food court, and KIRO host Jake Skorheim said it’s about time.

“I got really, really mad,” Jake said on “The Jake and Spike Show” on KIRO Newsradio, recalling when Costco pulled the beloved item from the menu. “I cannot figure out why they would remove this.”

The retailer teased the return with an Instagram video on Sept. 16 showing two people looking up at a food court menu board before the reveal.

Costco churros coming back for a limited time

Costco confirmed the Twisted Churros are coming back for a limited time, with exact launch dates varying by location, according to USA Today. The churros were discontinued in 2024 and previously sold for $1.49.

KIRO fill-in host Greg Tomlin said he won’t be enjoying them anytime soon — not because he doesn’t want to, but because Costco’s home delivery service has made it too easy to never set foot inside the store.

“Ordering Costco from the comfort of my recliner is a constant temptation,” Greg said.

He acknowledged the hidden cost.

“Each item is 5 to 10% more when you order online than it is when you’re walking in the actual store,” Greg said. “But it’s that value proposition of saving three hours.”

KIRO producer Laura Scott said she turned Jake’s family onto Costco delivery about a year ago and called it “the best thing ever and also the worst thing ever.”

“I literally spent $130 yesterday at Costco without leaving my house,” she said.

Jake said he still prefers the in-store experience.

“It’s where I see all of my friends,” he said.

The churro news also prompted Greg to float a conspiracy theory about Costco’s iconic $1.50 hot dog.

“I think they changed the recipe on that to keep it $1.50,” Greg said. “Doesn’t taste as good as it used to to me.”

“That’s a big claim,” Jake said.
