Harger: Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl, a championship fueled by belief, doubt, and defiance

Feb 9, 2026, 7:08 AM | Updated: 5:23 pm

It wasn’t a dream, Seattle. We did it.

The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions. And not in a squeaker. Not in a nail-biter where we all needed heart medication by the fourth quarter. They went out there and dominated. On the biggest stage in sports. Against everyone’s expectations but ours.

This was a team nobody believed in. The national media spent all season patting us on the head. “Fun story.” “Maybe next year.” “Not enough star power.” They had us penciled in as a nice little underdog narrative, destined to fall short when it really mattered.

They were very, very wrong.

It wasn’t luck. It was belief stacked on preparation. That’s a team that refused to let other people’s opinions become its reality.

I’ve been thinking about this all morning. Not just the game, but what it means because you know what it feels like to be counted out.

I’ve been there. I’ve had bosses who didn’t believe in me. I’ve had colleagues talk badly about me behind my back. I’ve had moments where the doubt crept in so deep I wasn’t sure I had what it took anymore.

Maybe you’ve been there too. Maybe you’re there right now.

Passed over for the promotion. Left out of the meeting. Told you’re not quite good enough, not quite ready, not quite right. Maybe it’s a job. Maybe it’s a relationship. Maybe it’s something you don’t talk about. But you know the feeling.

And then comes a moment. Your moment. When all that doubt you’ve been carrying either crushes you or becomes fuel.

This team chose fuel. Every slight. Every prediction. Every dismissal. They carried it quietly all season. And last night, they let it loose.

You can choose fuel too.

So here’s what I want you to take from today, whether you care about football or not.

You don’t need everyone to believe in you. You don’t need permission from the experts. You don’t need the national media or your industry or your family or whoever it is who’s been counting you out to suddenly change their minds.

You just need to refuse to stop believing in yourself.

Keep doing the work. Keep showing up. Keep stacking those quiet moments of preparation that nobody sees. Because when your moment comes, and it will, you’ll be ready.

And when the parade happens, and the confetti falls, and we’re all packed downtown screaming ourselves hoarse, remember this feeling. Remember what it’s like when belief meets opportunity. Remember that the world told us no, and we said we did not care.

You got this. Whatever your thing is. Whatever mountain you’re climbing. Whatever doubters are in your ear.

Great things are possible because last night reminded us what belief can do.

We’re all 12s today. Go Hawks.
