Ask Dave and Luke: Was our summer this year really that bad?

The Seattle Times reports summer is just about over in Seattle.

“So basically last weekend that was summer,” says Ross and Burbank host Luke Burbank. “We had the high point.”

Burbank is upset because it seems like we only had 48 hours that was nice.

“It hasn’t felt like a very good summer,” he says threatening to shake his fist at the sky.

The listeners are split on whether Luke is being too hard on our weather.

Alana in Tacoma writes:

I love your show but please, please Luke, stop complaining about the weather. It’s been a very nice summer so far. April had three weekends of great, unexpected sun. June wasn’t the best but as even you acknowledged we get our summer after JULY 5. It has been beautiful, nice temps and sunny skies. I would so much rather be here than in extreme heat and drought, tropical storms, tornados, although I enjoy thunderstorms, several severe ones a day. YES we were the only state in the nation to not have record highs, but that’s ok! I am so tired of people complaining when it gets TOO HOT as well. BAH! I know someone whose joke every weekend is, “well last week, that was our summer, hope you enjoyed!” SO ANNOYING! Instead of looking for the gloom, just enjoy the sun while it’s here. How often are long term forecasts anyways? Almost never correct. Love ya but please, just smile and be happy with what we have!

But Barbara, also from Tacoma, is with Luke.

Barbara writes:

When we moved here 5 years ago, my daughters new pediatrician encouraged the liberal use of sunscreen, as Washington has an unusually high number of skin cancer cases.

Now, after living here for 5 years, when we have warm temps and sunshine, I’m tempted to go outside naked, sans sunscreen. No wonder skin cancer cases are so high here. I’m TOTALLY WITH LUKE!
