Let’s hope there isn’t a sequel: Ballard moviegoer attacks cell phone user

Along with the previews, movie theaters these days seem to show at least a couple of catchy reminders to silence your cell phone. So should anyone be that surprised that a guy at Ballard’s Majestic Bay Theater attacked another moviegoer when his phone went off?

It happened Nov. 21 during a showing of the Ben Stiller film “Tower Heist.” The Ballard News Tribune reports:

The victim of the attack was watching the movie when his phone rang. After silencing his phone, the victim checked to see who had called him and the suspect, who sat a few seats over from the victim, yelled at the him to turn off his phone.

Five minutes later, the victim received another phone call and the suspect yelled at him again.

Soon after, the angry suspect left the theater, then returned and began choking the guy. Seattle police report the attack lasted at least 30 seconds before the suspect ultimately left the theater.

“Maybe choking is going a little far…but it’s not far off from what I’ve wanted to do hundreds of times in movie theaters,” says Luke.

“How many times do people need to be reminded. What does it take?,” asks an incredulous Dave.

Dave says he learned his lesson as a 6th grader on a class trip to the venerable Metropolitan Opera when a peeved patron yelled at him and a bunch of kids to “shut up!”

“It reminded me of Bob the angry custodian, who would whack a trash can with his oar in the lunchroom,” recounts Dave of another traumatic childhood incident.

No word on how many people choked themselves watching Ben Stiller’s acting…
