The peak freshness and flavor of summer produce is as delicious as it is fleeting, and Willows Lodge is capturing that seasonal magic for Summer Harvest Days from Aug. 24-Sept. 13.
Chef Lyle Kaku is featuring the sun-ripened flavors of tomatoes and refreshing cucumber from longtime partner Ecolibrium Farms on the Barking Frog menu and at Fireside Lounge, both of which are located at Willows Lodge. Standout items from Barking Frog include the elegant Cool Cucumber Serenity Salad and the Snake River Farms Wagyu Zabuton Steak, which showcase the life of the tomato. Six edible stages of the red fruit are presented on the plate, from a blossoming vine to full ripeness. Fireside Lounge, meanwhile, has its own take on summer rolls, with cucumbers, prawns, fresh herbs, and chili oil, wrapped in rice paper. A cucumber mascarpone sherbet is available at both of the resort’s locations.
The Spa at Willows Lodge is also offering a farm-fresh experience: its Garden Renewal Body Wrap ($180), which features a sea salt body polish and a cucumber-infused shea butter moisturizing wrap.
Summer Harvest Days overarchingly functions as a celebration of Willows Lodge’s decade-long relationship with Ecolibrium Farms, which is just a couple of minutes’ drive from the resort and is open to the public. The farm supplies several restaurants with its produce, and it offers u-pick experiences for what’s in season, including flowers and a kid-friendly garden. There’s also a growing brood of chickens and a farm store open Wednesday through Sunday. You’ll likely spot founder and Farm Director Alex Meizlish active in the fields, tending to the food beautifully reflecting Woodinville’s agricultural legacy in area restaurants.
