The most wonderful time of the year kicks off seasonal, part-time, and full-time hiring across Amazon’s U.S. operations, with roughly 300,000 jobs up for grabs.

The most significant company offering, or let’s say “holiday gift,” is healthcare coverage to seasonal employees who work at least 30 hours per week. Workers hired into seasonal roles during the holidays or later in the year will also have access, Amazon reported.

Healthcare plans start at $5 per week with $5 copays. Coverage begins Jan. 1, 2027.

More than healthcare coverage

The seasonal hiring push comes shortly after Amazon announced more than $1.5 billion in higher pay across U.S. operations in September.

Pay for full-time employees is now anywhere between $20 and $24, an increase of $1. Employees may also enjoy an uncapped 10% discount for eligible groceries and everyday items online at Amazon and Whole Foods Market. If workers are in-store, they can apply another 20% discount at Whole Foods Market.

Day 1 Financial is another new benefit for employees that gives access to low-cost banking through First Tech Federal Credit Union.

Complex timing

The holiday hiring comes during a season of layoffs for Amazon. MyNorthwest reported earlier in October that jobs were eliminated across retail divisions in the U.S., the U.K., and India. Less than 1,000 employees faced cuts, The Seattle Times reported.

More cuts closer to home happened at the end of August. Seattle, Bellevue, and Sumner saw 153 jobs reduced, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing.

Jobs will be posted weekly from October through December here.
