A man believed to have blown up an ATM outside a bank in Tacoma has now been arrested after fleeing to Thurston County.

The explosion was said to have taken place near 54th and Pacific Avenue, around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

“Money was everywhere — we don’t know if the suspect got away with any money, but we do believe that Thurston County does have him in custody,” Tacoma Police Officer Loretta Cool told KIRO Radio.

Cool says the ATF and FBI are assisting as they try to figure out what kind of device was used in the crime.
