Ballard High School was evacuated after witnesses called 9-1-1 to report a student with a gun on campus.

The Seattle Police Department reports that it received a call about a male student with a gun Thursday morning.

Police officers and a SWAT team rushed into the area, and located the student off campus. That teen was arrested. The reported gun was not located.

Out of “an abundance of caution” police searched the school for the missing firearm.

Ballard High School students who were not evacuated were escorted into the school’s gym. Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole was at the scene and spoke with students in the gym. Officials released students between 2-3 p.m.
