Several U-Haul trucks were destroyed after a fire blazed through a parking lot in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood Monday morning.

At approximately 3 a.m., Seattle Fire Department (SFD) crews responded to reports of an RV fire along N.W. Leary Way, according to KOMO News.

“Officers spoke to the Fire Marshall and he said that they received an anonymous tip that someone was syphoning gas from the trucks right before the fires started,” said Seattle Police Detective Brian Pritchard.

Possible propane tank explosions heard as fire spread through Ballard parking lot

Multiple callers reported to 911 that they heard loud “popping” noises that may have come from exploding propane tanks in the area of the fire.

SFD arrived on scene and found several U-Haul trucks on fire at a parking lot for U-Haul rentals. Fire crews carefully worked to put out the flames.

“Six trucks were damaged by fire, and a funnel was found at the scene. But, we are not sure if that funnel is related to the fire,” Detective Pritchard said.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
