The man whose body was found inside the trunk of a car on Thursday afternoon in Lakewood has reportedly been identified as a convicted killer.
Employees at Tacoma Towing found Tracy Sehmel, 49, of Roy dead in a silver Saturn sedan at the tow yard on 39th Avenue Southwest at 3:45 p.m.
The Tacoma News Tribune reports a jury found Sehmel guilty of first-degree manslaughter in 1991 after punching a man and pushing him into a pool cue rack. The victim ruptured an artery on his head and died.
Sehmel has also been convicted for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempted second-degree burglary and second-degree theft, according to the Tribune.
Deputies said Sehmel’s car was privately impounded about noon on Wednesday from the area of 97th Street and Sheridan Avenue in Tacoma. It’s not yet clear why his car was parked there.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances of the homicide and identify suspects.
