Street race organizer arrested in Algona

A 19-year-old man suspected of organizing numerous street races has been arrested by a joint task force in Algona Thursday night.

The suspect has allegedly been organizing street races around Pierce and King County.

Members of the Tacoma Police Department, Kent Police Department, Algona Police Department, and the Washington State Patrol conducted a joint arrest operation at a home in Algona at 9 p.m.

Kent police have booked the man on 13 charges, including aiding and abetting vehicular assault, three counts of reckless driving, three counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of disorderly conduct, three counts of unlawful race attendance, and malicious mischief.

Marysville police arrest two in drug lab sting

Two Marysville residents are arrested in-connection with running a fentanyl manufacturing lab, and using said fentanyl to produce fake oxycodone pills.

U.S. Attorney Nick Brown says Jose Garnica and Lauren Wilson are suspected of shipping in parts from China used to make counterfit oxycodone pills.

According to a criminal complaint, Garnica and Wilson garnered the attention of law enforcement on June 17, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Los Angeles inspected a package labeled “furniture parts” from China to Garnica’s Marysville address.

Further investigation of two suspects showed unusual cash transactions and 11 firearms purchases in a three-month span in 2020.

Federal investigators executed a search warrant at a Marysville home and seized a pill press and other materials to make fake oxycode pills.

Garnica and Wilson are charged with conspiracy to manufacture and distrubute fentanyl.

They’re both at the Federal Detention Center at SeaTac pending their next hearings.

Tacoma Police officers were called to the scene of a shooting at the 1500 block of South Ridgewood Avenue, where the boy was shot.

The boy was brought to the hospital with serious injuries.

In a nearby alley, officers found three guns, which they think might be connected to the shooting.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Clallam County man selling stolen logging equipment wanted by police
