Des Moines police searching for murder suspect in early morning shooting

Police are looking for a suspect who shot and killed a man in downtown Des Moines early Sunday morning.
Just before 2:00 a.m., officers arrived at S. 223rd and Marine View Drive S., in the Des Moines business district.
They found a 31-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Des Moines officers tried giving him first aid, and medics arrived soon after to continue life-saving efforts.
But the man died at the scene.
Police believe the shooting suspect left the area before they arrived.
So far, they don’t have any description of the person who shot the man.
The shooting investigation closed down Marine View Drive S. for a while, but the roadway has reopened.
Police say the investigation is open and active.
They are asking for witnesses to come forward.
