While there were plenty of fireworks during the Seahawks vs. Bills game on Monday Night Football, one of the brightest came before kickoff: with Generald Wilson’s powerful rendition of the national anthem.

Wilson, known as the “Praise & Worshipper” of St. Louis, was born and raised to sing the gospel. He retired from the US Navy after 21 years of service. It wasn’t his first time on the sporting stage, though, having sung the National Anthem and God Bless America at numerous sporting events. That includes at the World Series in 2011, 2013, 2014, two playoff games in the NFL (and a Seahawks game in 2014) and the 2016 NCAA Men’s Championship Game, among others.
Wilson’s independent album in 2009, “I Live to Praise – I Live to Worship,” made the Stellar Awards first ballot for Praise and Worship CD of the Year. There is already an online petition for him to sing the national anthem for Super Bowl LI in 2017.
