Elderly man, 86, arrested after assisted living center employee shot

An 86-year-old Stanwood man is behind bars after allegedly shooting an employee at his assisted living center.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s office says they got called to the Josephine Sunset Home after people heard gunshots Monday afternoon.
“A 59-year-old male employee who worked at the facility had been shot,” said Snohomish County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sheri Ireton.
The shooting took place around 3 p.m. Officials say the shooting came after an argument.
The injured man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. Hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg said he was in satisfactory condition.
Deputies arrested the elderly man for investigation of first-degree assault. It wasn’t immediately known how the man got access to the weapon.
State health officials say they plan an investigation.
