Fire guts building at Washington State Fairgrounds after Spring Fair closes

Investigators are looking into what caused a two-alarm fire at the Washington State Fairgrounds in Puyallup early Monday morning.
It gutted Evergreen Hall, one of the fairgrounds’ oldest buildings. It was remodeled last year to house the agriculture and floral departments at last fall’s Washington State Fair.
According to authorities, 49 of 50 animals inside were saved.
A food concessionaire inside was also destroyed.
The fire broke out just hours after the annual Spring Fair had wrapped up.
It began around midnight and went to two alarms as it was extinguished by the Central Pierce fire department.
