The firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announced Tuesday that McKenna would be joining them as a partner and co-chair of Orrick’s Public Policy Group.

“Upon deciding to return to private practice, I looked for a firm grounded in Washington State that offered a top-tier national and international platform and a client roster of leading technology and consumer product companies,” said McKenna in a news release.

“Microsoft had reached out to me and asked me to be with a firm where I could represent Microsoft, so Orrick allows me to do that,” said McKenna. “It’s going to keep me very busy.”

McKenna’s second term as Washington’s Attorney General ended Jan. 16, 2013. While the governor’s seat went to Jay Inslee, McKenna said that won’t necessarily be the last time he runs.

“I’m only 50 years old. If I want to run again in the future that’s always a possibility,” said McKenna. “There are lots of ways to serve, so I’m just going to focus on resuming my law practice, taking care of my family, and frankly having a lot more time with my kids.”
