Forecasters say strong winds peaked Tuesday afternoon in most areas across the Puget Sound, but some areas might see some gusts in the 30-40 mph range into the evening.

The sun made a brief appearance in some locations across western Washington. The National Weather Service reports thunderstorms are possible into the evening, especially in areas west of the Puget Sound. If you hear thunder, go indoors.

While road closures haven’t been a problem yet, the Washington Department of Transportation warns that high winds and downed trees could still lead to issues later on.

“Very high winds could mean road or bridge closures so, same as if you were traveling over a mountain pass, please be sure you and your vehicle are prepared for any possible delays or closures as they can happen with little warning,” WSDOT said Tuesday morning.

Coastal areas reported power outages Tuesday. Scattered outages have been reported across the western Washington region.
