Hundreds of jobs heading to Everett

The demolition isn’t yet complete on the old Kimberly-Clark paper mill in Everett, but the site already has a new owner and hundreds of jobs to add to the local economy.
Everett lost about 700 jobs when the paper mill on the Everett waterfront closed last year. At least 250 jobs will be coming back when Foss Maritime opens up a new shipyard on the site in about three years.
Foss’ Seattle parent company Saltchuk Resources has agreed to buy and develop the property, relocating several hundred employees from its Lake Union facility.
The Herald reports the Everett site will give Foss more opportunity to work on bigger ships. The site will house dry docks, cranes and painting facilities.
Foss will keep its headquarters in Seattle and continue work on Lake Union.
