Olympia resident’s effort to recall Inslee dismissed by WA Supreme Court

Oct 31, 2019, 5:02 PM

Everyone has different dreams, and for a long time Olympia resident Arthur West has tried to recall Washington Governor Jay Inslee. He initially began a recall effort in 2013 because of Initiative 502, which legalized recreational marijuana. And in December 2018 he was at it again.

But on Thursday the Washington Supreme Court upheld a Thurston County Superior Court ruling and dismissed the recall petition as legally insufficient, reports The News Tribune.

Boeing CEO testimony highlights interplay between profits and humanity

The most recent of the recall petitions asserted that Inslee abdicated his duties as governor as a result of his failed presidential campaign, neglected to properly address homelessness, and improperly used state resources to push environmental initiatives, among other reasons.

“None of the recall charges are legally or factually sufficient, West’s petition may state reasons to disagree with Governor Inslee, but they are not proper reasons to support a recall,” the decision read.

Latest Seattle council poll is (mostly) true, but deeply flawed

Whether West pursues a third recall effort remains to be seen.
