A short interaction after a Seattle City Council committee meeting sparked a public argument over alleged sexual harassment.
Shortly after a Seattle City Council committee meeting Wednesday, a local TV news organization interviewed passionate proponents, and opponents, of a proposed North Seattle police station. Opponents call it a police “bunker.” They call themselves “Block the Bunker.” The issue has caused a rift on the council.
City council hit with waves of police distrust at committee meeting
An opponent of the new police station used her phone to take video of a TV interview. The news crew spoke with a man who is pro-police station. After the interview, the woman continued to film and the man offered his name — “Hugh Mongus.”
That set things in motion, including accusations of sexual harassment. According to the statement under the Facebook video, the woman who filmed the interaction did not want to speak alone with an officer. She argues that while she experienced sexual harassment, security guards and police responded to her, but never spoke to the man in question.
