‘It’s going to be busy’: Snohomish’s Craven Farm celebrates 40th year of pumpkin patches

It’s officially fall, which brings pumpkin patches and fall festivals! For many Seattleites, that means heading out of the city to farms.
One of the oldest pumpkin patches around, and the original one in Snohomish is Craven Farm. They’re celebrating their 40th year of pumpkin patches this Saturday!

Craven Farm owners Kimi and Brian Chadwick didn’t know farm life would be in their path, but when the opportunity presented itself, there was no turning back.
“A lot of it has to do with the community that’s already been built up around here. People come and they start making memories that’s turned into traditions and through that we build a lot of community, so that’s actually the thing that drew us to the farm,” said the Chadwicks.
Being Snohomish’s original pumpkin patch, they’ve had a lot of visitors come through. And this weekend they’re celebrating 40 years by honoring past visitors.
“We’ve created Craven Farm memory lane, so we have all our customers submit their stories, we have their pictures on display through our main entry, and really just trying to celebrate all the things they’ve done to make this place wonderful and what it is today.”
Hours are seasonal during the year, but once they hit October, they’re open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week, and Fridays and Saturdays until 10 p.m. Plan ahead if you want to go anytime this month. The Chadwicks say that some weekends there have been hourslong waits just to park.
“It’s going to be busy. With it being October, it’s going to be busy. Lots to do, lots to see. It’s a pretty open space so being able to experience different things, the corn mazes, the hay rides, the cow trains, different kinds of food, and obviously the pumpkins are what we do.”
Whether you go for the friendly goats, hay rides, the gift shop, or pumpkins, you can expect the full fall experience at Craven Farm. You’re sure to have a gourd time!
