King County Exec. Constantine asks for another $57 million in COVID-19 response funds

King County Executive Dow Constantine is pushing another emergency funding package to help the region deal with its ongoing coronavirus crisis.

It’s a $57 million funding package that Executive Constantine hopes to have approved by the county council May 12.
Roughly $33 million of that money would go toward COVID-19 response efforts. That includes leasing sites to properly isolate patients in treatment and recovery, and finding hotel rooms and alternatives to shelters for the homeless.
Another $16 million would go toward small business relief, homeless youth programs, and arts groups. At least $2 million will go to the arts.

Constantine plans to get some of this emergency money from the hotel/motel tax to promote tourism and other cultural programs.
This is the second emergency funding package proposed by the executive. The first package, a $28 million funding measure, passed the county council unanimously.
