The man killed on Sunday after allegedly shooting toward shore from his sailboat moored off Bainbridge Island was a former Amazon employee, The Seattle Times reports.
Robert Yeiser, 34, was depressed, according to court records. That depression became worse after losing his job at Amazon and a dispute with his former landlord, which eventually led to his eviction from South Lake Union after he stopped paying rent.
The Seattle Times reports there was a mental caution on Yeiser for the arresting officers.
Multiple agencies spent hours at Eagle Harbor, attempting to end the confrontation with Yeiser peacefully. He was shot after pointing a weapon at officers, according to the state patrol.
