Meta is putting more office spaces in western Washington up for sublease.

One space is in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood, and the other is in Redmond, according to The Puget Sound Business Journal. The office in SODO, part of Home Plate Center, also serves as the headquarters for KING 5.

Meta acquired two office spaces across from T-Mobile Park after arriving in Seattle in 2012, but pulled back by 2023 as layoffs and office space cuts swept the company.

The office at 1501 First Ave. S is now available for sublease. The other, at 1531 Utah Ave. S, no longer lists Meta as a tenant, The Puget Sound Business Journal reported.

In Redmond, Meta listed its office space in the Willow Ridge Tech Center for sublease.

Sublease listings follow Meta’s cut of 8,000 roles companywide

The sublease listings follow major shifts within the company. In May, Meta began issuing layoff notices as part of a companywide cut of 8,000 roles, or 10% of its workforce, while investing billions in AI. Of those, 1,395 were in King County.

Another 7,000 staffers were to be reassigned to AI-focused positions, according to The New York Post.

The King County cuts included offices in Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond, as well as remote positions statewide. The layoffs began July 22.

The vast majority of the impacted Meta positions were in software engineering and recruiting, though additional roles were listed, such as product and design management, data science, and several other managerial positions.

Those layoffs followed 499 Seattle-area job cuts Meta made earlier this year.
