Is there more snow coming to Western Washington this week?

Mar 4, 2019, 10:22 AM | Updated: 5:05 pm

It’s cold around Western Washington, with temperatures into the 20s in some areas. In Eastern Washington, temps fell into the single digits. It doesn’t seem the frigid weather is leaving quite as quickly as it originally seemed.

KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard warns that snow or snow/rain mix could be headed for some Western Washington communities on Wednesday. Snow levels will be around 300-500 feet and Allard says moisture in the air should keep east of Puget Sound.

“Generally, snow levels for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be right around that 300 to 500 foot level,” Allard said. “Statistically, it’s harder to see real snow measuring up a bit. But I do think we’ll deal with scattered snow, wet snow, rain, mixed showers. Much like I saw 10 years ago at opening day at Safeco … wait, not Safeco anymore …”

“I don’t think we’ll see any huge issues, we just need to keep an eye out for some wet snow flakes mid to later portion of the week,” he said.

The National Weather Service also notes a potential for snow or wet snow, but rates it at a minor impact this week.
