New rules for visitors to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle

Starting Tuesday, visitors to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle must show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or proof of a negative test within three days of visiting.
The new rule applies to inpatient visitors over the age of 12 and those over 18 accompanying hospital-based clinic adult patients.
“We know how important this is for our patients, for their families, their loved ones, but also the health care workers. They’ve wanted to see families and friends there as well,” said Dr. John Lynch, medical director of infection prevention and control at Harborview Medical Center.
The visitation policy is expected to also be implemented at UW Medicine hospitals and clinics in the future.
Visitors over the age of 2 are also required to wear a medical-grade or surgical mask to enter any hospital within the UW Medicine system, starting Tuesday, Oct. 19. Free masks are available to visitors.
