Potential bus driver strike likely averted in Seattle

It looks like parents in the Seattle School District won’t have to scramble to get their kids to school. A potential bus drivers’ strike appears to have been averted.
The union representing the 450 bus drivers reached a tentative deal with First Student after an all-day bargaining session on Thursday.
First Student is the private contractor that provides bus service for the Seattle schools.
Terms of the deal were not released and won’t be until the drivers get a chance to look it over and vote on it.
They had threatened to walk out on strike after negotiations broke down. They were unhappy with the health care costs in the previous deal and the lack of paid sick days. As many as 27,000 kids rely on bus service each day.
If approved, this contract would be the first for the drivers who just unionized last June.
