In Tacoma, nearly 10,000 customers were without power due to the thunderstorms, Tacoma Public Utilities reported at 9:50 a.m. The heaviest-hit appear to be areas east and north of Tacoma.

About 2,000 people in South Kirkland are without power.

A transformer blew near Google’s Eastside campus. Puget Sound Energy said it was caused by a bird or an animal.

It’s estimated that power will come back at noon.

At around 10 a.m., a tree on the line outside the Vashon substation briefly took out the power. Crews quickly removed the tree and power was restored around 11:15 a.m.

And on Vashon Island, nearly 7,000 PSE customers don’t have electricity. Power there is also estimated to be restored at noon.
