Pierce County is about to get its first Raising Cane’s. State records show construction could start this month on the chain’s Lakewood restaurant, with two more Washington locations in Puyallup and Burlington moving through permitting.
The details come from recently updated public records filed with the state Department of Ecology and the cities of Lakewood, Puyallup, and Burlington. Raising Cane’s has not responded to our emails asking about the new locations.
Raising Cane’s Lakewood: Construction date and address
A stormwater permit filed with the Washington State Department of Ecology lists a project start date of Oct. 21 for the restaurant at 10025 Lakewood Drive SW. The state Ecology record shows work wrapping up May 29, 2027.
The new Cane’s will sit just down the block from a Chick-fil-A. Two of the country’s biggest chicken chains, one stretch of Lakewood Drive.
The project already has active state stormwater coverage, and the city lists a hearing examiner decision on a second drive-thru lane. That doesn’t mean every approval is signed off, but the project is well down the road.
Raising Cane’s Puyallup on South Meridian
Puyallup’s 2026 major development map shows a Raising Cane’s at 4110 S. Meridian. The plan would replace an existing building with a restaurant featuring two drive-thru lanes and outdoor seating. A separate city permit entry shows a demolition application for the site.
Like Lakewood, the Puyallup site puts Cane’s near a Chick-fil-A, and a Wingstop is nearby, too. Two drive-thru lanes on Meridian. Anyone who’s driven it on a Saturday will understand.
There’s no verified construction start or opening date for Puyallup yet.
Raising Cane’s Burlington on Burlington Boulevard
Raising Cane’s has also filed with the City of Burlington for a restaurant at 1075 S Burlington Blvd. The state stormwater record lists a start date of Jan. 19, 2027, and a finish date of Aug. 26, 2027.
Where Raising Cane’s is open in Washington
Right now, Washington’s Raising Cane’s restaurants are in Vancouver, Spokane, Seattle, and Lynnwood.
Seattle’s University District location opened Feb. 17, and people lined up overnight to be first through the door. A week earlier, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, fresh off the Super Bowl win, stopped by to serve chicken fingers to a handful of fans. Lynnwood opened this summer.
Openings usually come with the chain’s “Free Cane’s for a Year” giveaway. In Lynnwood, 20 customers walked away with it.
Raising Cane’s website still lists canceled Renton location
Neither the Lakewood nor the Puyallup location shows up on the Raising Cane’s website. The site does still list Renton, a location the company canceled. Raising Cane’s signed a lease at 250 Rainier Ave. S. in 2023 before scrapping the plan, as MyNorthwest previously reported.
