Update: Looks like J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, was impressed by Richard Sherman’s press conference performance on Wednesday.

Original story: Using his magical wand to direct the crowd of press officials, Seahawks Richard Sherman held his weekly press conference Wednesday in full Harry Potter attire.

Sherman answered his questions in Harry Potter style as well, showing he is well-versed in the Potter universe. In referencing the Seahawks overtime game against the Arizona Cardinals:

Five quarters of football is pretty tough, but quidditch – ya know the beaters, the chasers, trying to find the golden snitch — that’s tough. Five quarters in the elements though, I’d say that takes the cake.

Sherman said he dressed up for the Halloween season at the request of his son.

“My son told me he wanted me to wear something,” Sherman said. “This was my first and second (costume choice). I have a little bit more to the get up, but it is what it is.”

In case you spend more time with a football than with fantasy novels, quidditch is the fictional game in the Harry Potter series that is played on flying broomsticks. It’s like a combination of lacrosse and rugby — maybe a little basketball — but played by wizards using magic. It uses balls called things like beaters and snitches, which is what Sherman referred to.

According to Hagrid, wizards’ fervor for quidditch is akin to muggle’s (human’s) love for football — which is likely soccer given that Harry is English.

Sherman also noted that “The Order of the Phoenix” is his favorite Harry Potter film, and further commented on his love for the series.

“When you’re a wizard, like we are out here, sometimes you have to show it to the muggles in the world,” Sherman said. “We’ve got a lot of wizards. My son’s a wizard. Earl Thomas does some magical things. Michael Bennett is Black Santa, but he’s also a wizard.”

“I just went to Harry Potter Land. That felt like home,” he added.
