Dear Diary,
I’m now in my sixth week working from home for the good of my country, and I’m hearing that there is a plan to end the isolation, and re-open the economy. It appears to be driven by the data and the science, and free of politics. Which is good.
But I must confess, it left me with a strange feeling, something I would be ashamed to admit publicly, which is why I’m putting it in my private diary that only I will read.
You see, I really like working from home.
Instead of getting up at 3:45 a.m., I can sleep in until 4:15, then walk downstairs and I’m at work!
I haven’t shaved or cut my hair in six weeks! I’m somewhere between a British history professor and a shipwreck survivor, and nobody cares!
I finally had the time to become a model husband. I’ve been making toast and tea for my wife and leaving it next to the bed for when she wakes up. She usually only takes a few bites – but yesterday, I upped my game and made cinnamon whole wheat yogurt waffles!
An hour later I got a text message, which said, quote, “You must realize by now I don’t eat first thing in the morning.”
Don’t tell anyone, diary, but I think she loves me!
Sometimes it takes a pandemic to understand that.
