Thousands of people attend weekend protests, marches in Seattle

Thousands of people attended protests across the Seattle area over the weekend.

On Sunday evening, a large crowd of marchers made their way though downtown Seattle as part of the March for Black Lives – It’s Time.

“Bridge to the Future” march
Wives of Seahawks players organized a march across the I-90 bridge on Saturday – “Bridge to the Future” march. Tiffany Chancellor, wife of Kam Chancellor, and Nathalie Wright, wife of KJ Wright, organized the event.
“We are forever grateful for your support in this mission. Keep having those conversations, we gotta teach our kiddos the right way!,” Chancellor wrote on Instagram.
“Peace Peloton ride”
Hundreds of bike riders rode in the second annual Peace Peloton Economic Reform for Black People on Saturday. Organizers hope to make it a weekly event, according to the Seattle Bike Blog.
Riders went from Yesler Terrace to South Lake Union to the Garfield Playfield in the Central District.
Children’s March
The Seattle Children’s March took place on Saturday, and said their “mission is to develop leadership and civic responsibility among Seattle’s Children with a special emphasis on law, police, and economics impacting African Americans in Martin Luther King Jr. County.” Organizers say they were inspired by the Birmingham Children’s Crusade march of 1963 in Alabama.
The march started at Garfield High School on Saturday and ended at Bailey Gatzert Elementary.
Thousands participate in Black Lives Matter silent march Friday
Organizers posted a list of goals and demands to their Twitter. Included in the demands are for all police to be removed from Seattle Public Schools, and that police officers who have committed crimes should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
