Seattle tunnel project gets the ‘Star Wars’ treatment

May 5, 2016, 9:10 AM

Not that long ago, in an underground tunnel not very far away …

Someone mashed up recently released drone footage of the Seattle tunnel project with a sci-fi favorite.

The creator of the short YouTube video timed the release perfectly. Not only was it released on May 4 — a day “Star Wars” enthusiasts celebrate (May the Fourth be with you) — it was published as Bertha the boring machine makes her way under the viaduct.

Unlike what the video shows, the viaduct is still standing and is not under attack by Rebel forces. In fact, Bertha continues to make progress under the aging infrastructure and has excavated 175 feet of the approximate 385 feet needed before the viaduct can reopen to traffic.
